Benny Benack Quintet with guest singer Anaïs Reno will then be presented at Summer Concerts on the Hudson
What better way to spend a summer evening than listening to great music in the spectacular setting of Lincoln Harbor Park on the Hudson River in Weehawken?
On Wednesday, August 24, the Hudson River Performing Arts Center presents an evening of jazz with world-class trumpeter Benny Benack III and special guest vocalist Anaïs Reno.
Award-winning trumpeter and vocalist Benny Benack III is well known for his spirited trumpet playing and snarky, mature and naturally expressive vocal styles in the post-Sinatra mould. He performs standards and his own songs with a thrilling sense of showmanship.
Benny has been featured in international tours at Jazz at Lincoln Center Shanghai, JALC’s “NY Jazz All-Stars” (Mexico) and many parts of Asia and Europe. It has been featured at iconic clubs Birdland, Mezzrow, Bemelmans Bar at the Carlyle and other New York City hotspots.
At the beginning of 2020, he released his second CD, “A Lot of Livin’ to Do”. This recording, brimming with bop inflection, features bassist extraordinaire Christian McBride and other jazz luminaries. Benny was a finalist in the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Trumpet Competition and past winner of the Carmine Caruso International Trumpet Competition.
Guest singer Anaïs Reno is a rising jazz star who, at the age of 18, recently headlined a week of shows at legendary jazz club Birdland. Broadway world calls hers “a once-in-a-lifetime voice”.
Benny and Annaïs are both huge Frank Sinatra fans and part of their show will be devoted to “Ol’ Blue Eyes”.
All concerts in the series take place at Lincoln Harbor Park, located just north of the Chart House restaurant, directly on the west bank of the Hudson River in Weehawken, New Jersey. The concert is weather permitting.
Transit options include NJ Transit Bus #158, Hudson Bergen Light Rail, and NY Waterway Ferry to Lincoln Harbor. And for those who choose to drive, free parking is available.
