Donald Hopp Obituary (1941 – 2021) – Springfield, MO

Donald James Hopp was born December 30, 1941 to Elmer and Luella (James) Hopp in Williamsburg, Iowa. He entered his heavenly rest on November 14, 2021.
His parents died before him. He is survived by his beloved wife, Janet Carol Hopp. On June 19, 2021, they celebrated 57 years of marriage. He is also survived by his two daughters, his sons-in-law and six beautiful grandchildren. Eva and Brandon Clark (Norah, Claire and Bennett) from Springfield, Missouri and Amanda and Matt Bears (Amelia, Wyatt and Ellie) from Auxvasse, Missouri. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Luanne and Jerry Heffelfinger of Mingo, Iowa, and their two children Jeff and Jeri Ann Heffelfinger and their families.
He received a BA in Music Education from Truman State University and an MA in Vocal Music Performance from Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan. He was a singing and singing teacher.
He was an active member of the Abundant Life Church in Springfield, Missouri for 40 years. Recently he volunteered in a small group and enjoyed being a host on Sunday mornings.
He and his wife have lived in Republic, Missouri for 37 years and have recently moved and enjoyed their home in Nixa, Missouri. He enjoyed being retired and working in the yard, reading his Bible daily, watching The Chosen series over and over again, and singing from a hymnbook that was close to his chair for easy access. He also enjoyed bowling and fishing for a good part of his life and enjoyed watching his daughters and grandchildren play sports. He marked all those who knew him.
A service to life celebration will take place on Saturday, November 20 at 10:00 a.m. at Abundant Life Church, 3531 S. Scenic Ave., Springfield, MO.
