Drowning claims the life of a young child in Chaska

Chaska, MN (KROC-AM News) – Chaska Police Department is investigating an apparent accidental drowning that claimed the life of a young child.
A press release says Chaska police responded to a report of a 5-year-old missing at around 4.30 p.m. The child is believed to have moved away from a house and a search was carried out. launched involving several law enforcement and emergency response agencies, including a drone and a helicopter.
The child was eventually found in a lake known as the Brickyard Clayhole. First responders attempted rescue measures and the young victim was taken to hospital, but the child was later pronounced dead.
“It was a tragedy,” Chaska Police Chief Ryan Seibert said. “We all cry when a life is lost and our hearts go out to family during this time.”
The name of the victim has not been released.
