YOUNGSTOWN – The Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation donated $ 10,000 to the Second Harvest Mahoning Valley Food Bank to support programs to alleviate hunger among the elderly and children.

The donation is part of Enterprise’s Fill Your Tank program, launched in October 2016 to fight food insecurity around the world. Over 10 years, the Fill Your Tank program will distribute $ 115 million to food banks and charities across North America and Europe, in addition to small local food banks and pantries in communities served by Enterprise.

“We are grateful to the Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation for this generous donation and continued support to the elderly and children facing hunger in the Mahoning Valley and for their support to Feeding America food banks across the country.” , said Mike Iberis, executive director of Second Harvest Mahoning Valley Food Bank, in a press release.

Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley, a member of Feeding America, provides food to those in need in the tri-county area through 160 anti-hunger organizations and programs, which include church meals, homeless shelters, soup kitchens, shelters for battered women and school pantries.

In 2020, the Food Bank distributed 15.6 million pounds of food, including 5.2 million pounds of produce.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, members of the Ohio National Guard have been working at Second Harvest since mid-March 2020.

This will be the last week members of the Guard work in the warehouse, replacing volunteers. On Monday, the guard will be treated to a thank you lunch with food provided by the Roxbury Pizza Company.
