Pearland – Ethel Nadine Robertson (Loop) 92, Nadine Loop Robertson, 92, died on December 26, 2021 in Pearland, Texas.

Born February 23, 1929 to Daniel and Naomi Loop in Brownsville, Texas, Nadine grew up with her five siblings on a farm in Rio Grande, south of Brownsville. She attended El Jardin School in Brownsville and Texas College of Arts and Industries in Kingsville. In 1950, Nadine graduated from the Baptist Memorial School of Nursing in San Antonio, Texas. She has worked as a registered nurse in several cities in Texas as well as in Buffalo, New York.

In 1951, Nadine married James “Robbie” Robertson, who was just beginning a career in the Air Force. The young couple lived briefly in New York City before being posted to England and France, where their two eldest children were born. Her two youngest children were born in Wichita Falls, Texas, where Robbie was stationed. The family also lived for several years in Birkenfeld, Germany. After Robbie retired from the military, the family moved to Texas, eventually settling in Sugar Land, where Nadine lived until 2015.

Nadine and her family have traveled extensively in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central America and Europe, frequently by car, van or motorhome. After the death of her husband in 1992, she continued to travel with her friends and family.

Nadine’s family describes her as practical, resourceful, industrious, adventurous and outgoing. She liked to play games and organize group activities. She was an AARP Chapter Officer in Sugar Land and a long-time member of the Bellaire Christian Church. A competent and prolific gardener, she was active in the Sugar Land Garden Club.

His other hobbies included crafts, sewing and quilting. She hand-sewn quilts for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to commemorate marriages and births. In addition, she machine-sewed over 700 quilts for children and babies, which she donated to Ronald McDonald House in Galveston and Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, as well as the Family Crisis Center of the Big Bend.

Nadine is survived by her three sons, her daughter and their spouses, Jim Robertson and Lee Smith; Daniel and Wendy Robertson; Ann and Robert Ross; and Ted and Cathy Robertson; seven grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. The family will celebrate Nadine’s life at a later date.
