Five items on the Tigers fan Christmas list

The staff at LSU Tigers Wire wish each of our readers a happy holiday.

This holiday season, there are a lot of items the fan base wants this year. For starters, the rest of Brian Kelly’s staff will be announced. Once that’s checked off the to-do list, the focus will be on finalizing their 2022 transition class under the guidance of the first year head coach.

In just over a week, the Bayou Bengals’ final game of the season will be in Houston, Texas. The Kansas State Wildcats of the Big 12 Conference face LSU on January 4. A win would give the team a winning record. A loss would give them their first losing season since 1999.

We’ve broken down five things fans want:

Kayshon Boutte stays in Baton Rouge

With speculation swirling around the LSU Tigers’ main weapon on offense, fans want the former five-star signatory to tell Baton Rouge. With the new coaching staff on their way to Death Valley, it would be the best gift if he chooses to stay another year with another attack and the return of Myles Brennan.

The LSU Tigers are waiting to see if Garrett Nussmeir will receive his Texas Bowl waiver. The best gift would be if he were able to play in the game and take care of his red shirt. The Brad Davis-led Tigers wouldn’t have to rely on a quarterback if that were the case. There’s also Myles Brennan’s longshot, but either way, they need a quarterback.

Harold Perkins’ commitment

One of the best remaining rookies for the 2022 class is Harold Perkins. He’s on his last three teams with LSU joining both Texas and Texas A&M. With all the signs pointing to the Aggies, it would be a Christmas miracle to land with Perkins, but they sure could use it.

With the best remaining product in the state expected to make its decision on Jan. 2, the Tigers could use it in this class and on the pitch. The team signed another safety in Jordan Allen of Lafayette Christian Academy, but Mathews is on another level. Brian Kelly must find a way to bring him back.

LSU Tigers and Kansas State able to play bowl game

We’ve already seen the impact of COVID-19 during bowl season. The Hawaii Bowl was called off 24 hours before kick-off and Rutgers replaced Texas A&M in the Gator Bowl. One last Christmas wish would be to be able to play the game on January 4 in Houston, TX.
