George Pappas Obituary (2021) – Tyngsborough, MA

George Pappas, 77, a lifetime resident of Lowell, died on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at Lowell General Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Lucille M. (Boissonneault) Pappas, to whom he had been married for 57 years.

Born in Lowell on March 9, 1944, he was the son of the late James and Sophie (Stamatopoulos) Pappas.

George, who was educated in the Lowell School system, was a graduate of the Lowell Trade School and shortly after graduation was employed by Honeywell Bull until his retirement.

He was also a long-time member of the Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity, a 53-year-old master mason at the Kilwinning Lodge in Lowell, and a member of the Shriners.

George was an avid sports enthusiast who enjoyed and attended many Bruins, Patriots and Eagles games with his friends. He also made many trips to Canada. But most of all, he enjoyed family gatherings at his home with his friends and family, especially his granddaughters Olivia and Mia.

Besides his wife Lucille, he is survived by his daughter Georgia and her husband David Desmond of Tyngsborough; one son, James Pappas of Lowell and his partner Kristine Ferreira of Merrimack, MA; two granddaughters, Olivia Pappas and Mia Pappas; one brother, Bill Pappas of Lowell; one sister-in-law, Cecile Corcoran of Nashua, NH; and her nieces and nephew, Mary Borodawka and her husband Mike of Westford, Kenneth Corcoran and his wife Marcie of Chelmsford and Amy Corcoran and her fiance Ray Mello of Nashua.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at D’Youville Senior Care for the extraordinary care provided to George.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend his visit on Monday, September 27, 9 am to 10 am at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 62 Lewis St., Lowell, MA 01854. His funeral will follow at 10 am. Interment will be in Westlawn Cemetery, Lowell. In lieu of flowers, those who wish can make a memorial donation in his memory to the D’Youville Foundation, 981 Varnum Ave., Lowell, MA 01854, or to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 62 Lewis St., Lowell , MA 01854.
