NEWTON FALLS – Gerald C. Scott, 84, of Newton Falls, passed away peacefully in Eternal Life on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at St. Joseph Warren Hospital.

Born March 10, 1937 in Bellaire, son of the late Sewell Chauncy Scott and Ellen May Colburn Scott.

Gerry married the love of his life, Dorothy M. Scott, on July 20, 1972, and they spent 38 years together before he passed away on August 19, 2010. He had lived in Newton Falls since 1974 and was previously from Bellaire. He worked at General Motors in Lordstown as a material handler for 33 years before retiring in May 2000. Hunting and fishing were some of Gerry’s passions.

He was a member of the First Christian Church in Newton Falls and the Vienna Fish & Game Club in Vienna.

Gerry was predeceased by his parents; one son, Richard A. Scott; and four sisters, Geneva Jones, Bea Passmore, Peggy Hurd and Norma Brown.

Gerry’s memories will be carried forward by his loving family: his three daughters, Barbara Smathers of Shadyside, Florence and Ed King of Bellaire, and Beatrice and James Baker of Belmont; her son, Kermit Scott de Bellaire; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

Calling hours will be from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls, where the funeral will immediately follow at 1 p.m., with the Reverend Ken Kline as officiant.

Gerry will rest next to his wife, Dorothy, in Newton Falls Cemetery.

The family requested that all donations be made to the Vienna Fish & Game Club, 1508 Youngstown Kingsville Road, Vienna, Ohio 44473, in his memory.
