GWINN, MI — Guinevere (Gwen) Corraine (St. Vincent) St. Aubin, 89, passed from this life to eternal life on Saturday morning, May 7, 2022.
Born in Wells, Michigan, to Caroline (Cota) St. Vincent and Wilfred St. Vincent, she was the youngest of 13 children, 4 sisters and 8 brothers. Gwen was born and raised in Arnold, MI and attended school in Arnold and Gwinn. Ms. St. Aubin was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Gwinn.
Growing up during the Great Depression, she helped work her family’s farm and eventually left high school to pick potatoes to help support her family. Gwen attended night school and graduated from high school in 1970, alongside her eldest son, Bobby. She spent her professional career as a cashier at Frank’s supermarket in Gwinn for 32 years. She then spent 15 years as a cook for pilots at KI Sawyer Air Force Base’s Strategic Air Command Alert Facility and, after they were removed, the Airmen’s “chow” room until closing. of the base in 1995. She felt immense pride. to be able to serve those who, in turn, served our country. Late in her career, Gwen also served as a home health care provider for a few elderly members of the Gwinn community along with her daughter, Marla.
Among their fondest memories of their mother, her children remember the wonderful times she spent with her siblings during her youth, beautiful flower beds and a bountiful vegetable garden at their family home in Gwinn. Gwen also enjoyed embroidery and cross-stitching, reading, crosswords and word games, and putting together puzzles with her sons, Alan and Bobby.
She is survived by her children, Robert (Nannette) St. Aubin, Marla (Jerry) Jensen, Alan (Peggy) St. Aubin, all of Gwinn, Carol St. Aubin of Cambridge, WI; and his brother, Wayne (Bonnie) St. Vincent of Gladstone.
She was predeceased by her son, Larry St. Aubin. She was also the beloved grandmother of Christopher (Jenny) St. Aubin, Heather Jensen, Brian (Cassie) St. Aubin, Casey (Mike) Arkens, Chad (Jen) Jensen, Jenny (Brad) Bertocchi, Allyson ( John) Bowles, Keefer St. Aubin, Brenna Durand, Keenan St. Aubin, Samantha Katch and Mackenzie Katch; and great-grandchildren, Mataya, Cassidy, Chase, Carter, Cameron, Max, Sophie and Cleveland.
Per her wishes, Gwen’s remains will be cremated and there will be no official funeral services. A private family burial is planned for a later date.
Those wishing to express their sympathy are asked to make a donation in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
She instilled in her children a solid foundation to work hard, enjoy everything, and love each other. She will forever be in our hearts.
