The Helena Avenue Theater in Helena presents Winter Lodge Rendezvous, a live performance featuring Native American artists, at 7 p.m. on December 3.
For thousands of years, members of Montana’s tribal nations have gathered in their lodges during the winter months to share ceremonies, songs and stories. The Montana Playwrights Network (MPN), in collaboration with Native American performance artists, is hosting a unique event that features songs and stories that entertain and educate at the same time with Winter Lodge Rendezvous.
Winter Lodge Rendezvous features outstanding Native American artists, Christian Takes Gun Parrish, “Supaman,†an Aboriginal hip-hop dancer and artist; Jack Gladstone, “Montana Troubadourâ€; co-hosts Mike Jetty and Shane Doyle, singers and comedians from the Northern Plains; and classical Western violinist, Sapphire Ferguson Jetty.
In addition to the show, MPN is joined by the Montana Arts Council to co-host a community reception for attendees and performing artists immediately following the show. The front desk will provide refreshments including Indian fried bread tacos and other native inspired dishes.
