WARREN – Helen I. McGee Dunkerley, 82, formerly of Hubbard, died Thursday, June 24, 2021 at the Warren Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Warren.
Born August 18, 1938 in DuBois, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Bertha Doan McGee.
She married Dr James A. Dunkerley on January 18, 1958 and he was predeceased on February 23, 2008.
Helen graduated from Sharon High School in 1956. She loved to travel and was a member of the Happy Wanderers group. She was a former Brownie and Cub leader for Brookfield Troop 62. She was also an Avon representative for many years.
Helen was a member of Corner House Christian Church in Hubbard.
Helen worked as a hairdresser for many years in her own boutique and also at Angel Beauty Salon. She taught cosmetology at the old Art School of Cosmetology in Sharon and the old Wil-Mar Beauty School in Sharon. She also worked in her husband’s chiropractic office from 1985 until her retirement.
Helen is survived by one daughter, Lois (George) Taylor of Masury; two sons, Mike (Tina) Dunkerley of Brookfield and David (April) Dunkerley of Masury; two sisters, Clara Marshall de Warren and Bertha “Trolley” Graham of Sharon, Pennsylvania; 13 grandchildren, Janey, Oscar, Genesis, Jimmy, Jay, Anthony, Angela, Jerry, Lexi, Lele, April, Kaylee and Callie; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son, Chuck Dunkerly; one brother, Clarence M. McGee; and two sisters, Violet McGee and Harriet Jenkins.
Visitations will be from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Harold W. Stevenson LLC Funeral Home, 264 E. State St., Sharon, Pennsylvania. A funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home, with Reverend Dave Coxson officiating.
Interment will be in the cemetery of Corner House Christian Church, Hubbard.
