WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE – The Hillsboro Christian Academy Lady Crusaders end their volleyball season with a 15-7 record. The HCA Lady Crusaders’ last game ended in a loss to the Lady Crusaders of Fayette Christian School in three sets at FCS on October 26.

FCS Lady Crusaders won all three sets played by scores of 25-22, 25-15 and 25-16.

The HCA Lady Crusaders were led in assists by Lillian Hainline with 11 and tied for the lead in plays in play at 20 with Cheyenne Curtin. Hainline is also tied for the lead in kills with McKenna Hatfield, each with four. Annie Henderson led the team in playable assists with 32, her highest total of the season. Hatfield led the team in aces with two while Curtin led serves in play with eight.

Trailing 7-3 early in the first set, the HCA struggled to come back in time to win the first set. Curtin had a six-point streak for the HCA, but his efforts weren’t enough to put the team ahead against the FCS Lady Crusaders. The HCA Lady Crusaders lost the first set by three points during the Volley for the Cure night at Fayette Christian School.

The HCA Lady Crusaders couldn’t maintain the momentum they had built from set one to set two as they lost again. Freshmen Emma Robb and Emma Gorman entered the bench in the second set to try and motivate the HCA Lady Crusaders. Despite their best efforts, this proved insufficient as the FCS Lady Crusaders won the second set by ten points.

Kiersten Williamson gave the HCA Lady Crusaders a good start in the third set by scoring three straight points for the team. The HCA Lady Crusaders started out 3-1 early, but fell behind again and were unable to recover. Carlee Puckett won her only ace of the night in the third and final set before being replaced by Kora Greene. The season ended with the FCS Lady Crusaders 25-16 victory over HCA.

The HCA Lady Crusaders end the season 15-7 with a first place in the Emmanuel Baptist tournament. There are no seniors on the squad, so the squad will likely have the same returning squad for the 2022 season.
