It was a high-paced, back-and-forth game in the opening minutes. Dineen made his presence known with a layup from a Zeke Gonzalez feed, and Jaxen Porter added a nifty bucket for an early 8-4 BA lead. But the home team pulled the Cage with a formidable 10-0 run.

Big man Brady Bagenstose was the spark, converting a backhand before Isaiah Anderson bounced off a missed free throw for a layup to bring the score to 14-8. Despite the quick setback, a resilient Beaufort Academy responded immediately, coupling a pair of Dineen buckets with a high-energy bustle on defense to force a flurry of HHCA turnovers and take a 25-20 lead at halftime.

BA extended their lead in the third quarter thanks to stellar play from Gavin Midyette, who scored from a putout before hitting in a three to bring the lead to nine. Hilton Head Christian worked hard to get a few saves and cash on the board to bring him down to five, but the home side couldn’t capitalize on open looks late in the third quarter.

Jason Grunkemeyer’s side continued to fight for the last eight minutes, but BA closed the game manual-like, going 5v5 on the line while Midyette added six more points. to conclude a well-deserved victory.

Dineen was exceptional on both sides, scoring 17 points with three assists, four steals and six deflections. Midyette scored 11 points with three offensive rebounds while shooting a perfect 5-for-5 from the field, and Eddy Gonzalez added seven points and three steals.
