President Buhari spoke on Saturday at the inauguration ceremonies of Emir of Bichi, Nasiru Ado Bayero and Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atutwase III.

In his speech, read on his behalf by Professor Ibrahim Gambari, his chief of staff, at the coronation of the Emir, the president said that the current circumstances of the nation require leaders to “display their qualities and work seriously. for the maintenance of peace and unity. . ”

The President said: “Your turban at a providential moment like this in the history of our country, as the prevailing social and socio-economic conditions have created an opportunity for emerging leaders to show their qualities and to work seriously. for the maintenance of peace and unity.

“Your father, my friend the late Emir of Kano, Ado Bayero, was a symbol of unity, not only within his kingdom but also within northern Nigeria and across the country.

Returning to the past, President Buhari said: “When we remember Ado Bayero, we remember unity, we remember simplicity and good leadership, a leader who dedicated his life to unify the nation.

“I remember with nostalgia the passion and commitment he always showed in pursuing everything he believed in, a distinctiveness that almost cost him his life prematurely on January 19, 2013 because of his virulent stance against Boko Haram terrorists.

President Buhari expressed optimism that the new emir will exhibit similar qualities and “even more, as he has begun to show” during the few months of his reign.

In Warri, President Buhari, who described the Olu, Atuwatse III as the new monarch of the time, said his solid training and exposure had prepared him well to bring more peace and prosperity to his people.

Represented by Senate Deputy Speaker Ovie Omo-Agege at the ceremony held on Saturday in Ode-Itsekiri, the birthplace of all Itsekiri in the local government area of ​​Warri South, State of Delta, the president expressed his greatest joy on this occasion.

“I am delighted to join millions of Nigerians in your ascension to the Exalted Throne as the 21st Olu of Warri.

“Your ascension to the throne is ordained by God. As the youngest Olu of Warri, you are the monarch of this era.

“You are well educated and a successful entrepreneur with national and international work experience.

“Your Royal Majesty is blessed with a vision and a mission and is fully equipped to look back and move forward with the people for the future.

“I am confident that you will continue the noble tradition of 500 years, and your reign will witness improved peace, progress and development for your people and the nation,” he prayed. Speaking, Omo-Agege urged the new Olu to count on him for his support at all times, adding that he is a representative of all Deltans.

Ife’s Oni Oba Adeyeye, while congratulating Warri’s youngest Olu in history, urged Olu, 37, to be the father of all Itsekiri, good or bad.

“We are happy with the throne of Oodua. A fantastic 21st Olu from Warri. We can feel the energy in the air.

“You are loved by your people. I call you as a father to be kind to the good, the bad and the ugly. Embrace the whole kingdom. “Extend a hand of brotherhood to all. Extend a paternal hand to all. We have a very charismatic, handsome and lovable king. God will guide you, says the Oni.

Addressing his people after being crowned with a brand new golden crown at exactly 3:24 p.m. by the Uwuangwe of the Kingdom of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, delivered about five Christian worship songs to acknowledge that he was subject to higher divine authority.

This was greeted with loud ovations from the gigantic crowd that flooded OdeItsekiri (Big Warri), the ancestral home of all Itsekiri and the place of the coronation.
