During a recent interview with Bobby Bones, Brown talked about “Thank God” and Katelyn’s role in the song. “She has a whole verse and she sings the chorus with me,” Brown revealed, before sharing that his wife was “killing it” in the studio.

Brown later admitted that his wife was “nervous” during recording and said he and producer Dann Huff needed to comfort her.

“She was nervous, but it was just me, her and Dann [Huff]. I told her he was great and he was very comforting and she came in and she had no reason to be nervous at first, but she was… Dann calmed her down and I don’t know whether we’re going to use the video or not, but the video footage that we have, I’m dancing in the other room through the glass to calm her down, and then she starts having fun,” he explained.

“Thank God,” which was co-written by Josh Hoge, Jaxson Free, Kyle Fishman, Christian Davis and Jared Mullins, is the next single from Brown’s third studio album, Different Man. The project is set to release on Friday, September 9.

The project will feature 17 songs, including the duet with his wife as well as a collaboration with country superstar Blake Shelton. The album will also include his latest single, “Like I Love Country Music”, as well as previously released tracks “Grand”, “One Mississippi”, “Whiskey Sour” and “Leave You Alone”.

“I’m very excited, when it comes to releasing this new project, for people to see how much I’ve grown as an artist,” Brown said of Different Man.

Different Man follows Brown’s second studio album, 2018 Experience. In August 2020, Brown released his ACM nominated EP, Mixtape Vol. 1which included several hit singles such as “Cool Again”, “Worldwide Beautiful” “Worship You” and his Top 40 radio single, “Be Like That” featuring Khalid and Swae Lee.

While “Thank God” marks the couple’s first duet, it’s not Katelyn’s first time in the recording studio. Before meeting Kane, Katelyn was embarking on a solo career as an R&B/Pop singer and that’s how the couple met.

In a 2020 interview with Kelly Ford of RADIO.comKane shared the story of his first encounter with Katelyn.

“We met in Florida at my very first show, I believe it was in 2015. The day before that show, I was supposed to be in her music video because she was also an artist, and it couldn’t not happen because my show was the same day as the music video,” he recalled.

“So a year goes by and the same guy we were working with brings her to a show, she didn’t want to come and he basically forced her. We met, we didn’t talk at all, i may have said hello to her but i thought she was lovely and i watched her all night so i asked her to come to nashville like the next day i flew her out and we hit it off and she never left.

Later this month, Brown will embark on a massive international tour, dubbed the Drunk or Dreaming Tour.
