As Shakespeare once wrote, “Bold be my friend: Arm me with daring from head to toe!” At CHCA, it seems senior student Eszter listened to that old saying to heart. “The theater is my home away from home at CHCA,” says the Slovak student. “Working in the theater gave me a voice that I didn’t even know I needed. It helped me grow by learning the importance of good value ethics. In my classes, the theater gave me the courage to speak my mind and share ideas.

Likewise, Caroline from China has regained her self-esteem on stage. Creativity and imagination go hand in hand through character immersion at CHCA, where students master technical skills and learn the value of teamwork with each theatrical production. “Thanks to the theater, I learned that I can accomplish more than I expected. I have met great friends and teachers who have common interests. I learned to manage stress and use my time wisely so that I could pursue my interests, ”adds Caroline.

State-of-the-art robotics in the classroom

The CHCA curriculum strives to engage students in the challenges of college and, eventually, adulthood and professional life. Faithful to its philosophy of “beginning with the end in mind”, Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM) are integrated as part of the CHCA experience to equip students with the skills needed for the 21st century. Learning studio for artistic experimentation

Art at CHCA is not just inclusive; it is also interdisciplinary, where students of all ages use art as a vehicle to examine the human experience. Bright, airy, and spacious studios line the Beaux-Arts facilities on campus, with an oven room, a dark room, and a designated wet and dry media area. Junior student Joy relishes her time in art class on campus. “There are more opportunities for me to practice artistic skills, like different mediums that I have never used before. I can spend more time making art thanks to the lessons during the school day, ”she explains. Since practicing her art diligently at CHCA, she has perfected several artistic techniques, such as making portraits in different mediums. “Being able to pursue artistic studies while I study my other classes makes me happy and gives me a balance in my studies,” she adds.

Leading the pack

For Arthur, CHCA’s top soccer player, athletics has allowed him to become a leader. Playing American football was somewhat unknown to this student from Kyrgyzstan. “I played soccer for seven years in my home country and was excited to compete at such a high level at CHCA. Football in America is a very different style from my home country. There is more emphasis on teamwork and successes and on how we can be strong as a community. “

Athletics at CHCA is more than just athletic success; it’s the inner journey of self-discovery that really matters. Arthur’s rite of passage through sports and extracurricular activities exemplifies the right conditions at CHCA for students to truly realize their potential.

He is able to apply the leadership skills learned from soccer to other areas of his life. “I combined my interests in videography and football when I became a cameraman at AV Sports Production. Playing soccer also meant knowing people in my classes, which helped me communicate well on and off the pitch.

CHCA’s International Student Program (ISP) embodies the spirit of interdependence and community on a global scale. Dedicated staff oversee all aspects of the student experience without the need for an outside agency. Incoming international students have a personalized learning experience called Foundations to ensure they are fully integrated into the campus community.

In her second year at CHCA, Davina from Kyrgyzstan chose the CHCA experience to grow academically, personally and live with a host family. “Foundations of Faith and Culture is a very useful course because it taught me how to be a student at CHCA. I’m able to focus on learning new information and fully participate in classes quickly with the help of Foundations, ”she considers. Davina credits the specific teacher instructions and the relationship she has developed with her ISP teacher to help her overcome the initial challenges as an ISP student. “The ISP office helps me not to worry because I always know that I have someone at school to talk to if I have a question or problem,” explains the second.
