Pokemon fan finds a bird that looks like an actual Piggey

An incredibly lucky Pokémon fan stumbles upon a bird that almost looks like Pidgey, the popular Generation 1 Pokémon.

A Pokemon aficionado shared an image of an actual bird which is an almost exact replica of Pidgey. Meanwhile, the Pokemon community eagerly awaits the release of the highly anticipated Pokemon scarlet and violet, which is expected to launch in the coming months. While they wait, fans are spending more time on previous titles in the franchise, like Pokémon Sword and Shield and Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

On the other hand, part of the community spends its hours creating awesome works of art dedicated to its favorite pocket monsters. As the release date of Pokemon scarlet and violet is getting closer, more and more people are coming up with fan art related to upcoming Pokemon. One fan art shows Lechonk and Sprigatito together, while another shows a shiny version of Quaxly. Despite the popularity of Generation 9 Pokémon, fan admiration for the original Generation 1 Pokémon is unmatched, as evidenced by a Twitter post that has recently garnered new attention online.

Twitter user CaelKillara uploaded an image to the social media platform showing a “real life” version of a famous Generation 1 Pokémon, Pidgey. The image shows a bird resting on a person’s hand and a phone showing a picture of Pidgey for comparison. Surprisingly, the bird in the photo bears a striking resemblance to Pidgey, which is a flying-type Pokemon. Said avian creature also has a plump body with brown and cream colored feathers. In addition, the shape of its beak and the position of its eyes are comparable to those of Pidgey.

The post quickly went viral among Pokemon community and has been retweeted over ten thousand times and received over 33,000 likes. Most people praised the original poster for their incredible luck finding an actual version of Pidgey, while others posted hilarious GIFs. On the other hand, some people have discussed the possible species of the bird in question, with most of them agreeing that it is a sparrow. One person pointed out the irony that Pidgey is named after a pigeon instead of the sparrow he so closely resembles.

Pidgey and other Gen 1 pocket monsters like Bulbasaur, Charmander, Pikachu, and Squirtle are hugely popular in the modern Pokemon community. Pidgey evolves into Pidgeotto, which transforms into Pidgeot at a later stage. Like sparrows, Pidgey is a docile pocket monster with a keen sense of direction and a keen instinct for guidance. They are known to return to their nests no matter how far they travel. Pidgeys are abundant and can be found in grasslands and temperate forests.
