Qualicum Beach Village Voices return for fall concert on November 20 – Parksville Qualicum Beach News

The Village Voices of Qualicum Beach have been providing choral music to the Parksville-Qualicum audience for 30 years, but when the COVID-19 pandemic was declared, the organization faced one of the biggest challenges in its history .

The rehearsals were performed online and the performances went virtual.

“We switched as quickly as possible to virtual rehearsals,” said the organization’s artistic director, Patricia Plumley. “It gave the singers the chance to work on their own vocal, musical and technical skills, but this joy of making music together is something that we were only able to find again this fall in a safe and organized way. We’re so excited to be singing in person again.

As vaccination rates continue to rise, The Village Voices will once again welcome members of the public for a scaled-down version of their fall concert, “Songs for a Winter’s Night”. The afternoon concert features seasonal choral songs, with a bit of Christmas.

Selections include; John Rutter (“For the Beauty of the Earth” and “Christmas Lullaby”); a little musical theater (‘Carousel’, ‘Finian’s Rainbow’, ‘The Greatest Showman’); more classic; gospel; and Gordon Lightfoot.

The show aims to offer something for everyone.

“The repertoire is a mix of styles that really showcases the talent of our singers,” Plumley said.

The concert will be a set, but will not have an intermission, door prizes, paper tickets or programs. Admission is by donation with a suggested amount of $ 15.

COVID security protocols will be in place. All participants will be subject to a vaccination check before entry and must wear a face mask and respect the physical distance.

The concert will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 20 and will be held at the Christian Fellowship Center (825 Village Way in Qualicum Beach).
