Downriver Focus on Life Event: The annual Focus on Life event benefiting Michigan’s Right to Life and three Downriver affiliates will be held on October 21 at Metro City Church, adjacent to Home Depot on Eureka in Taylor. Visits to the mobile ultrasound unit start at 6 p.m. The program begins at 7 p.m. and includes interviews with representatives from three programs that support mothers, fathers, and their children: Embrace Grace, Lincoln Park Crisis Pregnancy Center, and Foster Parenting. The opening speech titled “Embracing a Culture of Life” will be delivered by Kristina Karamo who works and volunteers to help mothers in disadvantaged neighborhoods choose life over abortion. She has served on the Black Leadership Committee of Right o Life of Michigan and is currently a member of the board of directors of the Stanton International branch in Detroit. Sunday School: St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church Youth, 2803 1st Street, Wyandotte, hosts a Sunday School for Kindergarten to Grade 5 children every Sunday at 10 a.m. The youth group meets once a month for a community service project and a Bible lesson for grades 6 through 12. Pantry: Rockwood First Congregational Church, 22600 Mather Street Rockwood, houses a Pantry, which provides personal hygiene items, cleaning supplies, lightly used clothing, and some food items. All items are free. The pantry will open from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on the last Monday of each month. If this Monday is a public holiday, the pantry will be open the previous Monday. Downstream Women’s Social Group: Join women at Rockwood First Congregational Church, 22600 Mather Street, Thursdays approximately 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a chat and friendship. Some ring crafts to work on or board games / playing cards. Some arrive late or leave early, some bring a lunch bag and eat together. No contributions; No religious affiliation required. Holy hours with display with rosary, Divine Mercy rosary and blessing: sponsored by the Knights of Columbus on the second Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. before the 7 p.m. mass at Notre-Dame du Scapulaire at Notre-Dame du Mount Carmel, Tenth Street and Superior Blvd., Wyandotte. Everyone is invited, not just the Knights.

Pantry: Every Thursday, DownRiver Church hosts an emergency pantry for a one-day dietary supplement for individuals and families living in DownRiver communities. The pantry is open every Thursday between 10 a.m. and noon. Participants must bring their driver’s license or state-issued ID to participate. DownRiver Church Worship Service: Sundays at 10:30 am Strict social distancing guidelines are in effect. A face mask covering the mouth and nose is required to enter the building. Our Lady of the Scapular Parish: Masses are Saturday at 5 p.m. (streamed live on Facebook and available on YouTube), Sunday at 9 a.m. (Polish / English) and 11 a.m. (English).
