Robert G. Eckels – Rostraver Township

Robert G. Eckels, 92, of Rostraver Township, passed away peacefully at his home Thursday, July 7, 2022, with his family by his side. Born in Monongahela on December 2, 1929, he was the son of the late Frank and Myrtle Eckels. Bob retired from Liggett Spring and Axle Co. in Monongahela and attended First Christian Church in Monongahela. He had been an active member of the Rostraver Lions Club since the late 1980s and was an avid fan of all sports, especially his “Buccos”, and he was always the number one fan with his sons’ sports activities and young girls. Bob was a kind, caring and gentle man and always had a smile on his face; anyone who has had the pleasure of knowing it will be able to check it out! Bob served his country honorably in the US Army during the Korean War. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Janet R. Laughland Eckels; sons, Chris D. Eckels of Rostraver and Brian C. Eckels of Rostraver; granddaughters, Caitlin Loughner of Virginia, Taylor (Josh) Golack of West Newton and Summer (Tyler) Wright of Rostraver; great-grandchildren, Quinn and Hayes Wright; and his sister, Shirley Eckels of Lexington, Ky. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two infant children, Christy and Joseph; and a brother, William Eckels. Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, July 11, 2022, at JAMES C. STUMP FUNERAL HOME INC., 580 Circle Drive, Rostraver Township, 724-929-7934, www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com, where a Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. with Pastor Henry Frain officiating.
