You know things get better when the Segerstrom Center for the Arts brings live shows back to its venues.
The comeback began tentatively in April with the ABT performance of Uniting in Movement, a socially distanced affair with reduced capacity and required masks.
Now that our county is reopening after the pandemic, the Segerstrom Center has released information on its upcoming performances while assuring the audience that “our most important goal is to create an environment in which all of our audiences, artists, volunteers, students and staff feel safe. and protected while reconnecting with the art and culture we all know and love.
Three indoor shows are scheduled for July: Tony Award nominated Ann Hampton Callaway will perform The Linda Ronstadt Songbook in the Renée and Henry Segerstrom concert hall, Christian James Hand returns to break down every track from Queen’s hit song “Bohemian Rhapsody “and Piff The Magic Dragon will delight guests with a night of incredible magic and heartbreaking comedy.
According to Casey Reitz, President of the Segerstrom Center for the Arts, “This is a momentous period for which we at the Center have diligently and strategically prepared, implementing new technologies and security measures for us. make sure we were ready for this time. In preparation for this moment, the work and lessons learned from Uniting in Movement greatly influenced our confidence in the successful return of indoor performances to the Center. A sincere thank you to our staff and members of the Board of Directors as well as our reopening committee for the planning efforts for the return of the indoor performances to the Center. Our fall calendar and beyond is filled with a comprehensive roster of high quality performances and top talent for everyone. We welcome you to our campus, inside and out.

Samueli Theater / Tickets start at $ 39
KLOS radio host Christian James Hand wowed a sold-out audience at the Samueli Theater with his Beatles session in early 2020. Now he’s back to immerse you in the elements that make up the musical masterpiece, Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody”. You will be invited to listen to the individual tracks of the Queen’s studio recording “solo” in a way you have never heard before: the drums, the bass, the myriad of guitars, the piano and finally the wonder. that is Freddie Mercury. voice. It is guaranteed that after this event you will never hear that iconic and beloved song the same way again. Hand’s Monday Morning KLOS segments just give you a taste of what to expect in this incredibly entertaining 2-hour session filled with music, laughter and pathos. Tony Ann contestant Hampton Callaway, one of the foremost pop / jazz singers of our time, has created an exciting evening of songs and stories in homage to one of America’s most beloved artists, Linda Ronstadt. On the heels of Ann’s symphonic / PAC triumph, “The Streisand Songbook”, this show celebrates the many faces of love in Ronstadt’s iconic songs from his Stone Pony Days like “Different Drum” and “Long Long Time” to pop / rock classics like “You’re No Good” and “Desperado” to unforgettable classics from his three Nelson Riddle albums like “What’s New” and “Am I Blue”, to his iconic duets that Callaway will perform with his brilliant director musical, Billy Stritch. In addition to the electrifying sound, Trey Henry on bass, MB Gordy on drums and Linda’s longtime guitarist and arranger Bob Mann. Romantic, lively and joyful, The Linda Ronstadt Songbook promises to be the perfect evening of music. “It makes me feel good to know that someone of the caliber of Ann Hampton Callaway sings these wonderful songs,†said Ronstadt.

For just one night, Piff the Magical Dragon returns to the Segerstrom Center with his hilarious show filled with incredible magic and heartbreaking comedy! After being nationally acclaimed as an Outstanding Star of NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” and The CW’s “Penn & Teller: Fool Us”, Piff continues to win audiences across the globe. Don’t miss this chance to meet Piff, along with his loyal sidekick Mr. Piffles – the world’s only magical chihuahua – and Showgirl Jade Simone, as he brings his unique brand of magic, wit and charm to the stage of the concert hall.

Commitment of the Segerstrom center to user safety
The Centre’s health and safety protocols have been briefed by infectious disease experts at the University of California, Irvine to ensure that the principles of cleaning, disinfection and infectious disease prevention are adhered to. The Center has partnered with industrial hygiene company TRC to review protocols, and campus cleaning service provider ABM administers Enhanced Clean in all buildings. They also use the recommendations and guidelines of the State of California CDC to design reopening policies and procedures.
Among the many improvements:
- Exceed CDC recommended filtration recommendations with MERV-14 air filters.
- Maximize the number of fresh air exchanges per hour with state-of-the-art air handling systems.
- Invested $ 175,000 to install contactless features in all washrooms.
- Installation of 150 hand disinfection stations throughout the campus.
- Implementation of a digital ticketing solution allowing customers to have their tickets delivered to their mobile devices.
