NEW COMMITMENT: The University of South Carolina received its first verbal pledge for fall 2022 of the National Junior Qualifier Burd sterling from Hilton Head, South Carolina

She said Swimming world:

“I am more than excited to announce my commitment to be a USC Gamecock for the next 4 years! Swimming is my passion and I am ready to have amazing teammates and coaches who will push me to be the best swimmer I can be! I would like to take this time to thank my Lord and Savior, my family and Coach Mike at H2A for their dedication and support in getting me to where I am today! I am super excited to have this amazing opportunity. That being said… Come on Cocks! 🐓🤙🏼 ”

A talented butterfly swimmer and acrobatic, Burd swims at her club with Hilton Head Aquatics and finished four events at the NCSA Championships in March after winning gold in the 1000 freestyle at South Carolina Seniors the previous month. She also finished sixth in the 200 butterfly at the Cary Sectionals.

Burd is a rising senior at the Hilton Head Christian Academy.

His best moments include:

  • 100 flies – 56.59
  • 200 flies – 2: 01.00
  • 200 free – 1: 51.70
  • 500 free – 4: 58.91
  • 1000 free – 10: 11.95
  • 1650 free – 17: 21.30

Burd will add valuable depth to their roster at the start of the 2022-23 season, as she would have placed No.1 in the 1000 freestyle and No.2 in the 500/1650 freestyle last year. She would also have been their fourth fastest 200 aviator.

Gamecocks also bring Paige collins, Maddie pierce and Mills of Makenzy as members of their class of 2025, therefore, Burd will have three years of overlap with them.
