This weekend, the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity present songs focused on “Sister Water,” a rejuvenating and sacramental elemental celebrated by Saint Francis.

Songs and performers include Sarah Hart’s Gather at the Water, her inspiring reflection on life and the baptismal calling; Waves of Blue by Sam Lyons, from the Steel Bridge Concert Series in Sturgeon Bay WI; “Don’t Fight The Sea” by Beach Boy Al Jardine with the Beach Boys; “Water From The Rock” by Novice Franciscan Sister Maria Guadalupe, OFS, her poem which became a song following the encouragement of another of our sisters; and “Celebrate this Life” by Twin Cities singer-songwriter Michael Loonan. Enjoy videos and ideas from artists in the stream.

The sisters also invite our loved ones in Northeast Wisconsin to join us on September 18 for International Coastal Cleanup Day, https://www.facebook.com/events/300192520260110/

Saint Francis recognized water as a precious resource and inspires us today in our relationship with our “sister”. From our earliest founding years in Wisconsin, our Franciscan community has enjoyed the sparkling streams of the Manitowoc River, the gentle ripples of Silver Lake, or the grander waves of Lake Michigan nearby.

The Canticle of the Creatures expresses well the Franciscan respect for Sister Water who sustains all life. Praised be You, my Lord, by Sister Water who is so useful, precious and pure….

Since 1869, the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity have served in Catholic health care, education, campus ministry, and parish-community service. Recently, demanding women have joined us from Michigan, Colorado, North Carolina, Wisconsin and Texas.

God is calling you. We invite you to Dios te lama. Te invitamos.
