The Bay Area Christian Broncos are ranked No.6 in VYPE’s Top 10 Private Schools presented by Kelly Malatesta of First United Mortgage, and face No.2 from Woodlands Christian Academy this weekend.

The reason for the success?

Coach Les Rainey likes to emphasize the commitment to the weight room.

“It starts in the weight room,” Rainey said. “We were able to incorporate a sports period into the school day, which was a big win for us. Our kids are joining the weight room from a young age and we are seeing the gains. a matter of consistency, which translates into success on the football field.

“We are a Wing-T attack, which means we run the game. We have to be physical. We are by no means the greatest team, but we are growing physically and we are also toughening ourselves mentally.”

Rainey took over the head coach job a few years ago. Before he took over, the Broncos were 0-8. Their first year, they were 2-8 and posted wins the following year with a 6-5 record and playoff appearance. Then the Broncos went 9-4 and hit the TAPPS State Semis. From there, BACS is 13-8 in the last two years and in the playoffs.

“We’ve had some playoff success, but we’re just trying to get over the bump and get into the state finals game,” he said.
